Dismantle any furniture that cannot be moved at one unless you have an arrangement with your removal company. Disconnect your washing machine and fit the transit brackets to secure the drum. Defrost the fridge/freezer unless you are moving it with the food inside. This is only advisable if you are only going a short distance.

It is always advisable and thoughtful to make up a snack box for moving day. You don’t want to be doing any cooking and you may not be able to as your cooker will probably be disconnected. Keep tea, coffee, sugar and milk and especially a kettle, moving is thirsty work. Water and cold drinks are also a good idea.

In winter try to move these to a garage or cover them up if you don’t have one, you don’t really want wet garden items in with your household furniture.
